Shelley is a highly experienced intercultural communication trainer and coach. Her career has spanned over thirty years and two continents. She was raised in the U.S. and then spent over twenty years in Europe, where she lived in Munich, Germany, and worked in numerous European countries. Besides developing and instructing intercultural communication programs, her experience includes working as a core communication and technical skills instructional designer, corporate trainer, English and German teacher, editor, translator, learning management systems project manager, and human resources consultant.
She has worked in various industries, such as the casino and hospitality industry, call centers, non-profit, and high-tech. In Germany she ran her own company, specializing in intercultural communication training, coaching business people and families living abroad, and leadership development. She currently lives in Reno, Nevada, where she is the Principal for Culture and Communication.
Shelley holds a Master’s degree in Adult Education from California State University, East Bay; her Bachelor’s degree was earned in French Literature at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, she is an ATD Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP). She is fluent in English and German and conversant in French. Shelley has traveled extensively throughout the world; her travels fuel her passion for learning about other cultures, creating increased intercultural understanding, and bringing people together.
